Get Rid Of Bugs In The House And More With Liquid Fabric Softener

I love the smell of fresh laundry. That brand new, clean waft of soft clothing that comes out of the dryer. Bonus if the clothes are still warm! While detergent is a must-have for every load of laundry (I’ve done cycles without it by accident – doesn’t have the same effect!) fabric softener isn’t –, but it is a nice-to-have! That little addition of fabulous smell and extra softness to your clothes is just so delightful!

But did you know you can use liquid fabric softener for more than just your clothes? Think outside the laundry room for this one, because guess what, you can! Here are 11 around the house uses for liquid fabric softener that will add fresh smells and a velvety touch to so much other stuff than just the clothes you wear!

10. Dip In You Paintbrushes For Super Soft Bristles
It seems near impossible to keep paintbrushes from hardening up, no matter how well you rinse and clean them, but. Next time, when you’re done painting, remove the big chunks of paint off the bristles then dip the brushes into a jar of water with one drop of liquid fabric softener. Wipe dry, store and you’re all set! No more throwing out brushes after a single use!

9. Keep Hard Surfaces Sparkly Clean
Keep dust away and blast through residue on hard surfaces like glass doors, tables and counters by mixing ¼ cup of liquid fabric softener and one cup of water in a spray bottle. Apply a few squirts to a clean cloth and wipe the surface. Polish with a dry cloth and bingo!

8. Say “See You Later” To Soap Scum
That unsightly brown soap scum and water staining between tiles and congregating around faucets can easily be disintegrated. Apply liquid fabric softener generously onto the area and let soak for 10 minutes. Use a damp cloth to wipe off and repeat if it looks like another round is needed.

Burnt rice? Crisped casserole? Ditch the scrubbing and soak affected cookware in water with a few drops of liquid fabric softener. Let it sit for an hour, or until it looks lifted, and simply wipe away!

6. Easily Peel Down Old Wallpaper
Tearing down old wallpaper can be a daunting task. Expedite the process (and prevent a headache!) by mixing a capful of softener into 4 cups of water. Then, using a sponge, apply to wallpaper, let soak for 20 minutes then remove. If the wallpaper is water resistant, scrape with a wire-bristle brush before treating with the solution.

5. Remove Hairspray Residue
I get hairspray everywhere. When you have a lot of hair, it’s hard not to! The mirror, the vanity, the walls, the tiles, the door! To prevent buildup, mix 1 part softener to 1 part water, spray surface then wipe clean. No more sticky, slippery hairspray gunk!

Hunker

4. Live Static-Free
Eliminate static from your carpet by combining one cup of softener to 10 cups of water in a large spray bottle. Spray on to carpet or clothes and let dry overnight! Static should be gone and stay gone for a few weeks!

3. Deodorize Indoors
We know that one of the main reasons we use fabric softener is to keep clothes smelling good. Why not have that same smell waft through your home? In a spray bottle, add 1 part fabric softener and two tablespoons of baking soda with two parts water. Spray away any unwanted smells to deodorize any space! Dilute further if you want a lighter smell.

2. Repel Bugs
Bugs loathe strong scents. Keep ants, flies and other creepy crawlies at bay with a spray bottle mixture of water with a few drops of softener. Spray in the affected area to prevent a bug invasion. You can even mist indoor plants to help deter bugs.
