Woman Crosses Highway To Rescue Injured Dog

Highways around the world are scary fast. After all, they were designed with speed in mind. They are an artery that’s an open road to transport people and goods from point a to point b in the most direct way possible. And in Mexico? There are highways that are four lanes with a speed limit of 90 miles per hour (144 kph) where cars stop for nothing, and people don’t drive at night because they are too dangerous.

So when a woman crosses a heavily saturated highway in Mexico City, alone, the words bravery and courage immediately come to mind. But what on earth would make someone do it in the first place?

Vero Bonbonsito Salgado is seen in this video crossing said crazy highway. What she saw on the other side was an injured dog looking like he’s taking his last breaths. He’s alone, cowering and scared, looking unsure of his fate. He’s trapped, time is ticking and it’s all just so heartbreaking to watch!

I don’t know how Vero summoned the courage to pull such an incredible feat, but she did. She fearlessly bolted across the highway and took a little time to gain the poor pup’s trust. In moments, the dog went from scared and walking in the wrong direction, to turning around and walking towards her. Next thing we see is her scooping up the doggy and again, dodging cars across the highway to make it back to safety.

Notice the dog’s immediate look of relief and gratitude. This moment is amazing, everything from the rescue to when they make it back to the car. The dog’s body language has totally changed as they sit together in the back seat. What a heroic moment!
