Singer’s Deep Voice Brings Rock And Roll To “Sound Of Silence”

Some songs have a magical quality about them that makes you want to listen to them over and over again. You could play them on repeat and never get tired of them. They are songs that you go back to year after year and each time you listen to them; it’s like reconnecting with an old friend.

One of the great things about songs like this is that they are timeless. These songs were loved when they were first released, and even though they may not be new or modern, when you play them for someone who has never heard them before, they fall in love with them, too. There’s something wonderful about sharing a beloved song with someone who has never heard it before.

Music can be an excellent touchstone, taking us back to certain time periods or even specific moments in our lives. It carries emotion and history, and a single song can touch thousands or even millions of people, allowing them to feel what the artist or singer was feeling, but also becoming a part of our own emotions.

Very special songs are often covered over and over, performed by countless artists over the years. With each musician comes a slightly different performance and emotion which makes it uniquely special.

One song that has been covered by many different artists is Simon and Garfunkle’s “Sound of Silence.” It’s a hauntingly beautiful song, but when South African musicians Ruhan du Toit and Deon van der Merwe from a Touch of Class perform it, they offer something else entirely. Where Simon and Garfunkle had sweetness, this duo has a gruff, gravelly, rock’n’roll quality that brings the song to life in a whole new way.

Watch their stellar performance in the video below and please like and share!

Nooooo. Disturbed has the best cover of this. Ever. Even Simon himself said it gave him chills.
