Dancing Grandparents Draw A Large Crowd At The Mall

Imagine you’re at the mall. There is a crowd gathered, people on the outside are peering over others’ shoulders, trying to get a look at what’s happening in the middle of the circle. As you inch closer, you hear someone saying that’s an elderly couple — they’ve got everyone’s attention, no one wants to move. What are some of the first thoughts that would run through your head?

I think for me, I would immediately think that something was wrong. I would urge others to help me in getting to the middle of this crowd and help them; if I can’t help, then I would call the right people to do so! I wouldn’t imagine THIS to be happening in the middle of the mall, while two elderly folks are enjoying a stroll through the crowded shopping center. It’s quite phenomenal.

If I saw a crowd gathered around an elderly couple, and walked up to discover they weren’t in imminent danger, and they were doing this instead, I’d be thrilled – and relieved! It’s not every day you get to see an older couple engaged in such a youthful activity.

Nick and Emma Nichols, married for 50 years, are pulling some smooth moves on the mall floor! Nobody expected these 70-year-olds to be so limber and quick on their feet. It helps that they’ve been dancing since the day they met, back in 1968.

When they were strolling through the mall, past the DJ’s serious speaker set up with Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” playing, they decided to take a break to dance. Within in moments, people drew in close to catch their snazzy dance moves.

These two are known for putting on their dancing shoes and going viral, like the time they got down at a Ludacris concert with millions of people watching them. And they continue to go out dancing every Saturday night! They’ll miss a Saturday once in a while, but they’ve remained pretty true to their ritual. Nick and Emma are the grandparents we all wish we had, or at the very least, hope to be!

Have you seen people dancing away at a shopping mall before? If so, tell us about it in the comments below! We’d love to read your story!
