The animal-human bond is nothing short of extraordinary, especially for Darrick who has been a volunteer at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. It’s here that Darrick has made a herd of new friends, resulting in some big friendships that he truly cherishes. Of these friendships he’s made over the years at the elephant sanctuary, Darrick remains close to one, in particular, Kham La.
They are such good buddies that when Darrick shouts her name, she comes running, and with back up! Having been around since Kham La was little, Darrick helped raised her and has been a part of her life growing up.
In this delightful video, we see Darrick’s call swiftly answered by a small herd of loyal elephants who come to see their human friend. Kham La leads as they approach Darrick. The elephants go from their low-roar to trumpeting, squealing with delight, while their ears flop and wag similar to the excited tail of a dog.
It’s evident that Darrick’s time spent amongst the herd has established a bond of trust. These elephants have accepted him as one of their own, including him in the pack and taking orders from him. He is appreciated, and they are appreciated back. This is one heartwarming love fest!
