Woman And Horse Perform Freestyle Routine To “Let It Go”

When Disney’s “Frozen” came out in 2013, there wasn’t a household with children in North America that wasn’t singing it morning, noon and night. Fathers, mothers, gym teachers, bankers – everyone had a “Frozen” song on their lips. It’s catchy, uplifting, and draws from a universal emotion and feeling that everyone can relate to (after all, it has been translated into 41 different languages), creating the perfect liftoff for Laura Sumrall’s entry at the Kentucky Reining Cup in Lexington.

At the time, Laura was a student at Texas A&M University, never imagining in her wildest dreams that her beautiful ice queen performance from “Frozen” (Elsa outfit, and long blonde braid included!) would win her the World Championship Freestyle Title.

The routine starts with Laura and her incredibly trained, graceful horse making their presence known out in the arena. Laura’s long cape is mysterious and only moments in, she dramatically sheds it, carrying on through the elaborate choreography.

Laura’s exuding confidence and big smile encourages the audience to cheer, and her one-armed glitter-sprinkling move definitely didn’t hurt either. Her moves with the horse, like the side trot cross-step, full-force gallop and halt, and eventually “look ma no hands!” trick all appear effortless as Laura not even so much as tugs at the reins. It’s all very subtle and gracefully executed.
