I think we all have a favorite pop song, something that we listen to on the radio and instantly feel like dancing to. Right? I know that for me it has to be something with Bruno Mars, but I know my parents like more of the old school music. I don’t blame them, the music from back then had the ability to transcend through generations because even I’ll listen to their preferred pop songs.
If, there’s a recent day artist who I think can relate to different generations, like singers from the past, then it has to Taylor Swift. Taylor’s music has the power to transcend age. Sometimes her songs are heavy, sometimes they’re lighthearted, and in this case, certainly carefree. Her smash hit “Shake It Off” knows no boundaries when it comes to making people feel like they just gotta let it go!
Speaking of letting loose with the mention of Taylor’s chartbuster, the residents at the Julia Wallace Retirement Village show that they’re really good at just letting it go.
Some 50 residents, plus staff and grandchildren, spent a week putting together their homage to the chart-topper to show that even if you’re retired from work, you don’t have to retire from life. The average age of the home is 82 (that’s a combined 4,000 years!), but after watching this video, it looks like they’ve still got the collective energy of a 20-year-old. This fact in itself is commendable because it takes a lot of dedication and energy to pull something like this video off. You go, girls!
There was some serious production involved, no skimping when it came to value, or special effects. Yes, even some effects were used! These great-grandmas and grandpas are starring in an outstanding production. Well, with at over 5 million views, they’ve got the right idea.
Even most of Taylor’s costume and scene changes are captured in the laugh-out-loud retirement rendition. It’s obvious these folks are having fun, and what a great way to spice up the everyday. This is a sweet memory to leave behind for their grandchildren.
I wonder if these retirees would be interested in making more fun videos like this one? I’m sure the internet can’t wait for them to release more of these so they can dance along and have a party of their own!
