Cadets at the United States Air Force Academy spend their time getting an education and preparing to be the men and women who will protect their country. They are an excellent group and have committed their lives to make the world a safer place for everyone.
Even though their days are spent in pursuit of honor and bravery, they still find time for a little bit of fun. Some of the cadets join a group, In The Stairwell. It’s an a cappella singing group that got its name from their habit of practicing their singing in the stairwells of the academy when there’s no other rehearsal space available.
The group brought their talents to the 12th season of the television reality show competition, “America’s Got Talent.” The audience and judges were sure to appreciate their performance, if only out of respect for their service to their country. But, as soon as they started to sing, it was clear that talent was going to impress everyone.
They tackled the song “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran. About 30 seconds into the familiar tune, a ripple went through the crowd. Even in the video, you can feel the energy in the theater as everyone begins to realize the emotion of the song.
A cappella singers are particularly impressive performers. When you listen, it seems as if musical instruments accompany their voices. However, all of the song’s music is made only by their voices. In this audition, the U.S Air Force Academy cadets show off their fantastic harmonies and cap it off with a smooth, polished stage performance. It’s clear that a lot of time, energy, and talent went into making this performance a reality.
We commend these men for getting on stage and giving a stellar performance. This group goes to show that those serving in the army have passions too, and it’s important to give everyone an outlet to prove their talent. These men have proven that their skills and talents are versatile and that they’ve found a fine balance between work and the hobbies they like to pursue!
