Mother Nature can sure be exciting. In her infinite wisdom, she is able to shock, wow and delight all of us humans. Sometimes destructive, sometimes constructive, taking our breath away is part of her beauty.
Although there’s nothing extraordinary about the fact that we experience snowstorms and cold fronts in the winter season, it’s still amazing to see what happens to landmarks and specific bodies of water when the temperatures dip well below zero. I’ve seen a film of ice build over lakes on my way to work, on a very very cold day. But never have I ever seen something like this!
Ray Canty was a part of the people who experienced the bomb cyclone storm on the east coast of the United States. Things went haywire with all the snow, wind, freezing temperatures, and all sorts of cancellations. Everyone just wanted to be indoors before they got stuck in hazardous weather conditions.
After the bomb cyclone came to an end, Ray decided to pay a beach in North Falmouth a quick visit; he knew the effects the cold has on people but precisely what happened in these conditions to the beach? Well, Ryan did some investigating, and we’re about to see the results.
The footage below shows Ryan’s drone capturing a lake that is completely frozen. They walked around Old Silver Beach, on top of the ocean, and there’s no way to differentiate that piece of land from a snowy terrain and a large body of water. It’s quite the sight to behold but also a shocking thing to witness.
We don’t imagine that such massive bodies of water have the potential to freeze in this way, and so when it happens, it’s nothing short of amazing and baffling, at the same time.
