Empathetic Boy Buys His Best Friend A Pair Of Shoes After He Sees Him Getting Bullied

It’s sad that bullying has become a normal thing at schools, and parents and school staff could only do so little to deal with it.

We may think that only adults get insecure about being poor, but in reality, kids also get picked on for not having the same privileges as the other kids in their school.

He’s Bullied

Seventh grader Melvin Anderson was picked on by his classmates at Buffalo Creek Academy Charter School for not having a decent pair of shoes.

His Best Friend

Romello “Mello” Early saw what happened to his best friend and he wanted to do something to help him.

He Empathized

Mello hated seeing his best friend being picked on just because of his shoes because he had once been picked on because of his height and he knew how it felt like being a laughing stock.

He Called His Mom

Mello called his mother crying after witnessing how his friend was being treated at school. He told her that he was tired of seeing his friend being bullied.

His Offer

Mello asked his mom if he could use his allowance to buy Melvin a new pair of shoes. He even suggested to have one of his Christmas gifts taken away so that the money could go toward the shoes.

He’s Excited

Mello excitedly gave Melvin the new pair of Nike shoes he got for him. Bryant Brown Jr., Dean of Culture at Buffalo Creek Academy, called Melvin to his office to ask what was in the box, and he was teary-eyed when the boy said that it was a gift from his friend, Mello.

He Shared Their Story

Dean Brown posted a picture of the two boys with the shoes and posted it on his social media, of course with permission from their parents, and wrote in the caption, “Treat someone the way you want to be treated, because God always gives back for good deeds. I just wish people would treat other people better.”
